One of the biggest problems with intellectual thought is that it more often than not stays within intellectual circles. Alan Watts, has been attempting to change that by using the internet, producing podcasts, audio files, and videos. Yesterday, I came across a set of animations that were produced by Trey Parker and Matt Stone (the creators of South Park) that narrate Watts’ recordings. The video’s have a light a whimsical feel, and most certainly take the discussion out from the intellectual circles and into the hands of everyone else.
Video’s are after the jump.

“Life and Music” is very poingant.
I say this after I attended “Kindergarten Preview” last week, at the school my daughter will be attending in the fall. Can I just say that nothing about school has appears to have changed since I was a kid, and my instinct was to yell at all the children ‘get out of here, and get out of here fast’.
The level of institutionalism that wee ones face is really sad and for many, I think the entire set up is defeatist. In a world where every human has so much to offer, most of us are set up to fail, and I would consider living your life in order to make it the end a pretty big failure…a huge mistake that most facets of North American society continue to encourage.
Anyway, awareness is important, and I think Alan Watts is doing his part to create an acute awareness of the possibilities in this life.

@Amelia: Life & Music was what peaked my interest as well. I really think that it is a beautiful metaphor to think about when traveling through life. It is kind of funny that we have even turned music into a means for success. At one point playing music was about playing music… it is much different now, and most of the time seems like playing music is about obtaining status.
So how do we reverse the process? How do we teach our children to enjoy the time that they have?
